Colette Laurel Dress Pattern

The Colette Laurel dress pattern is a very easy, simple shift dress, perfect for all body types and sizes. I loved making this dress as a casual work dress or shift dress for weekend events. The pattern includes a basic shift with a few different sleeve lengths and styles and also a shirt pattern. It also comes in sizing ranging from 0 – 26, which is great!

What did you like about the pattern?

The Colette Pattern range have really good patterns and instructions so they are great for beginner sewers. This pattern was very basic and included only a small amount of pattern pieces. It was perfect for a really basic dress pattern and took very little time to stitch up. I really like the structure of this dress and how casual it was once made.

Did you make any pattern alterations?

The main changes I made for this pattern was to take it in quite a large amount where the back pleats are. I also added some front darts matching the way the back ones were done which really took it in around my stomach. This was because I wanted it to be a more fitted style apposed to the baggy shift dress. However, you don’t have to do this. It was a personal preference when making this dress.

Would you recommend this pattern to others?

I really like the Colette pattern range and definitely recommend it to others. It’s great for beginners and a really good pattern to start with and play around with size and fitting. It also ended up being quite a great work or casual wear dress and would work well in a large range of fabric types.
